Why I built this

I’m not a contractor, an engineer, or a salesperson. I’m a homeowner who got flooded three times and finally decided to do something permanent about it.

When I started researching home elevation, I found two kinds of information: contractor marketing that only listed the upsides, and government PDFs written in a language only a floodplain administrator could love. Nobody was giving me the plain-English, been-there version — the real costs, the honest downsides, and how to actually get the grants.

So once I’d been through the whole thing — the engineering, the permits, the day a crew lifted my house into the air, the paperwork afterward — I wrote it all down. This site is that record, shared so the next homeowner facing the same decision has the honest guide I didn’t.
